Dad, my heart is truly broken. I cannot describe the grief and hurt i feel right now. I will hang on to the beautiful memories we had as children. You were a single dad to myself and my sisters Lisa & Deborah we were very young myself being 5 Lisa 3 and Deborah only a baby. We all went to live at nannas house, yiur mum Edna where we lived in a caravan out the back on forest st sunshine Victoria . We then moved to Altona where u built a bungalow out the back which you nade into our home. Being the 1970s it would have been hard for you raising 3 young girls while working as a truck driver to support yr family. Dad you did yr best to provide us with what we needed, we didnt have much but we had love. You would take us on our annual holiday to beechworth (Lake Sambal) where we had the best memories, you would always take us to the scenic rock drive where every year we would ohh and ahhhh. We visited local attractions animal sanctuaries, wineries anywhere us girls could run around, still remember the time you brought a bottle of black berry wine and our baby sister Deborah drank the lot, panic washed over you. Hence to say Deborah was very ill, 6 or 7 and drunk as a skunk but you never left her side the whole night. You would give us a weekly treat frm our local bakery, our favorite jam and cream sweet buns, which always ended up with cream fights with Lisa. You even took care of the difficult moments of pubity providing sanitary products, taking me bra shopping etc… embarrassing for a man in the 1970s but you did it without question. Yr devotion and love was always there.
Although we had our difficulties in adult life you were always in my thoughts. I am so greatful to have been with you on yr final days. I love you dad. Until we meet again you will forever be in my heart and memories.
