Olive, I loved your wisdom. Standing on your back veranda, me aged 19, we talked about men and women and gender roles, and you were sage. I loved how you weren’t trying to impress anyone with your wisdom, no, you were quietly wise. But Olive, I was impressed, then, and for years after. I confess I also loved your old, wise dog Sam, the brown kelpie. I know he was old because when I was 27, so was he. He was switched-on and salt-of-the-earth. Like you. Olive, your clear and sound presence influenced me, and gave me strength, to become more like you. Thank you and bless your transition. Love Lindsay’s daughter Robin Shipard.
