Beloved wife of Jack (dec) for 41 years. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Robert (Bob) & Rosemary. Doting Granny Jean to Andrew, Timothy, Stephen, Jeremy, Sal, Cody, Clair, Julia, Georgina and many others. A great friend to many.
Greatly Loved And Remembered Always.
I was so sorry to hear that Jean has passed on. I met her several years ago when I used to volunteer at Vision, helping to take blind and low-vision clients for recreational activities. Once a week we would drive to a local parks and go walking for an hour or so, then for tea or coffee at a cafe. Jean had a great sense of adventure and I’ll never forget the time we were passing a park and she decided to go on the slippery dip. Unfortunately, she flew down the slide much faster than we’d expected and went flying off the end, landing on her back. We all felt dreadful about it, fearful that she would have hurt herself but she laughed it off. Another time, she heard that tandem bike riding was on offer so she volunteered for that. It was only once she was on the bike, riding along, that she mentioned she hadnt ridden since she was a child about 80 years previously! Even after Jean gave up living alone and moved to a more protected environment at UPA, she still maintained her independence, getting out into the community on a regular basis. Jean was very proud of her son Robert and her grandchildren and often spoke of them.
Gavin and I were sad to read of Jean’s passing. Though we have not seen or spoken to Jean for some years, the decade we did spend time with Jean left indelible memories of a simply lovely, lively and hugely resilient lady.
Her size was not her personality,! Large as life, loved to laugh and was very quick and witty. Not a lady easily forgotten and very well remembered.
Our thoughts are with you Robert and your family. A wonderful rich life and so well lived.
Jean was a lovely lady and she will be greatly missed.
