Location Manager at Lester & Son Funeral Directors
How long have you been a funeral director?
I joined the funeral profession 30 years ago and before I became a funeral director I worked in the health care sector primarily aged care. I became a funeral director so I could continue to help families at time when they need it most.
What do you like about being a funeral director?
I enjoy the fellowship of the people I work with and the positive role we provide in our community. For me it is all about serving the needs of everyone we care for.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare times?
My spare time is dedicated to my family. My family provide me other avenues to be part of and support our community. My son is active in Aussie rules, basketball as well as music and my daughter is involved in many disciplines of dance including ballet and lyrical.
Weekends are spent together except when my wife is nursing at the local hospital.
What do you like about your local area?
Our local area has a great deal of variety to get out and enjoy the town and the local communities nearby. The people are friendly and welcoming. We have so much choice whether it’s the mountains for bush walking or skiing (I am not a skier), the river, the weir, fantastic restaurants and wineries. You wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
What charities does your brand/location support in your area?
We support many organisations but our most prominent is Border Trust. We support Border Trust as it provides us in conjunction with other likeminded businesses and individuals an opportunity to support others in our community.
What makes your brand special?
Lester & Son Funeral Directors has cared and served the communities of Albury, Wodonga and surrounding towns since 1907, and we continue to learn to improve on what we do for you. We take the time with our families to provide a funeral they have decided on. Every funeral is unique and needs to be what the individual wants and needs.
Our team is very creative and have provided families many firsts in our community. Some examples of these firsts are funerals held at Football Ovals, a racecourse, by the river, at the family farm or more formal venues such as the Albury Entertainment Centre.
What would you like to have included at your funeral and why?
A funeral to me is a very personal life event. A time of reflection and a celebration of the life that was. I believe it is important to memorialise, so families have a place to gather and remember.
We can help you arrange any type of funeral. You may wish to hold the service in our beautiful chapel, in a church, or a place that was special to your loved one.
Here are places that we recommend to use for your funeral service:
