With family by his side, George passed away peacefully at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, after a short illness.
George, 84, was a loved and devoted husband to Janice (Polkinghorne) for 63 years. He was an adored and respected father & father-in-law to Michael, Kerrie (Barker), Brian and David and their partners, a loved grandfather to 12, and great grandfather to 9.
George was the 2nd child of ‘Pal’ & Alice McGuire (both dec) and brother & brother-in-law to Bill (dec) & Dot McGuire, Edna & Jim Costello, Irene & Tom Drummond, and Jock (dec) & Tina McGuire.
George requested that a memorial service not be observed. All he wanted was for his family, relatives, friends, colleagues, sporting associates and friends of family to gather simply to remember and reflect on his life. A remembrance for the life of George will take place at the Wodonga Bowls Club, Osborne Street, Wodonga on Friday 18 December 2020, at 3.00pm.
A strong and respected man who will be deeply and sadly missed.
