Family and friends of the late Mr Ray Groch are informed that the celebration of his life will take place at the Evergreen Chapel, Lester & Son Funeral Home, 359 Wantigong St, North Albury on Wednesday 18th July 2018 commencing at 11:00am, followed by a private cremation.

Peacefully at Wodonga Hospital. Son of John and Ida Groch (both dec). Brother and brother-in-law of Lionel, Harold and Dianne, Tommy and Barbara, Tiger and Janice, Bev, Trish and Kane. Special thanks to his niece Penny for all the years of care.
A staunch supporter of the Albury Football Club for many years
Ray was an eternal optimist; as any person with an abiding interest in race horses (and dogs) must be.
He loved the friendship of a couple of beers, tall tales and a good laugh, pretty much to the end.
His eyes had that merry twinkle when Penny turned up at the Club. And the joy he had when She Will Reign won him a motza was a most wondrous sight.
In such moments Ray Groch was just Ray, and it seemed his spirit soared and the awful predicament of his physical impediments vanished for a while. And I will say that Ray’s fierce life-force – his spirit to avoid surrender until the last – was remarkable – and instructive – to behold.
And the biggest bet Ray ever made was always the same: on himself; every day in those closing years. So he was a winner you see, no matter what, he battled the days and won them, so in the end he went out a winner too. Proud to have known him. Andrew R. Coward, Albury NSW
