I shared many rides with Hendo. We were mates in th RAAF and I have fond memories of the rides and times we shared together . I particularly remember giving Hendo a lift home to Newcastle from Williamtown one afternoon on My Laverda and His continual egging Me on to go a little faster and give it some . I always remember his sense of homour and laughter which could light up a room . We lost touch with each other over the years after our time in the Air Force , i now regret that as I think of Bernie and His Family .

I have never met anyone quite like Hendo , we joined the RAAF on the 14th of October 1974 and became friends for almost 5 decades, He had the biggest boyish Grin and could always find a way to turn anything into something hilarious , the Love of his life is and will always be Jennifer and their Magnificent sons Lawrence and Raymond with daughter in law Jennifer and the most beautiful granddaughters Maya and Layla ..Hendo left his legacy through his family and a Passion for two wheels that is best described …Motorcycle life you are in it for a reason a season or like you were born to it … Hendo you are one of those blessed to be born to it RIP

I am so sad to read of Bernie’s death. He was my very first serious boyfriend and we had an ongoing friendship for many years. He introduced me to so many things not least of all his passion for motorbikes. I remember the first time I went riding with him, being admonished for the shoes I was wearing and i almost wasn’t allowed to pillion. I also remember being in Gyra, the coldest place in NSW, on the back it the bike with BJ. I’ll never forget being so cold. He will always be in my memories and I’m so sad I’ve just found out he has passed on. Rest in peace Bernie
