    To Marg and family,
Thinking of you all at this sad time. Mike has been a wonderful member of the Wodonga Croquet club. Playing today and looking around there were endless signs of his handiwork. The players have always appreciated his playing talents and constant advice; the ease of getting the equipment out with our trolleys that he produced and we have a very serviceable shed courtesy of Mike’s persistence.

Marg, I know you would say croquet was good for Mike but he was fantastic for our club. He will always be remembered by all who knew him.

Take strength and courage from knowing that he was very well respected and loved as a friend and player within our club.

Our deepest sympathies are with you all.

Lorraine Cumming (President of Wodonga Croquet Club)

    To Margaret and family,

We found out on Monday afternoon when Rhonda was talking to Kerry and then we didn’t check the Albury/Wodonga Funeral Notices till Wednesday morning. We tried to book and sort a way of getting there, even going through Melbourne and then driving to Wodonga but couldn’t make it work. We are sorry that we won’t be there to celebrate Michael (Bill’s) life with you and your family this afternoon, but be assured that our sympathies and thoughts are with you and your family at this time. Bill was a really good man, with a wicked sense of humour, and you put him and Dan and Neil Maroney and the Maroney boys, Peter. Michael and Tom together and you had a recipe for some of the funniest stories and jokes to be passed around at functions.

Some of the memories that come back to us are the night we stayed at your place at Wallangarra after Elanie O”Reilly and Kim Montague’s wedding in Tenterfield, you and Bill catering for our wedding, Rhonda and I standing on the Garden Island wharf waiting for the HMAS Sydney to dock bringing Bill back from Vietnam, Dan and then Nan’s funerals and wakes and then Bill’s eulogy at Pat’s funeral in Sydney, with the story about when Pat took him for a ride on the motor bike and he was clinging on for all he was worth – a side of Pat’s life that we knew nothing about.

We hope that this comment finds you well also, and that you are winning with your own health problems. Again we are sorry that we cannot be there.
