Our dearest Norma now at peace – dearly loved first cousin of Irene (Scheetz) Hillier (dec), Doris (Scheetz) Stone, Reg Scheetz (dec), Stan Scheetz and Len Scheetz and second cousin to our families. Remembering all the lovely family gatherings at Granite Hill – a very special home where we all grew up together and the many visits over the years. We all will miss you Norma – a very special part of our family and such a lovely, talented lady. Heartfelt sympathy.

Many wonderful childhood memories of my visits to Granite Hill and spending time with Norma in the kitchen as she cooked for “the boys”. I will miss you dearly; your love, patience, compassion and your welcome arms every time the Duncan crew (Joyce, Lorraine, Sandra and Wendy) came to stay. Thank you for being such a wonderful person. You will be sadly missed.

My treasured Godmother, and great friend of Kym, Mathilde and Oliver. Many wonderful memories of so many happy times at Granite Hill throughout my entire life. The end of an era and we will always remember you with love Norma.

Goodzee has become a loved member of our family, enjoying country life and happily trotting along with the children on their walks and adventures on the hill behind us.

I met Norma while on a trip to Albury to catch up with my beautiful friend Lisa Gray, around 15 years ago. In the years since I have dropped in to catch up with Norma and listen to her stories about Granite Hill and life in and around Jindera.

I am so blessed that my daughters and I got to have you in our life. Alysha and Abbey have always talked about your home, your mice collection and of course Goodzee. Thank you Norma for sharing part of you with us.

My grandfather was Theodore (Ted) Schulz. Born in 1892, he was the younger brother of Rudy. He came to the U.S.to study, met my grandmother, Amelia Katherine Harms and never returned to Australia. Both my father, Harold G. Schulz and I did visit family in Australia, years apart. My father, like his father before him died young n 1982 at the age of 62. His father had passed in 1952 at the age of 60. I was two years old and in 1952 and never knew my grandfather, Ted. In 1999, my significant other, Vince Weis and I went to Australia to attend the New South Wales portion of the Schulz family reunion. Like my father before us, we stayed at Granite Hill with Armer, Roy and Norma. We signed the guest book as my father had before me. I do hope the family still has that; it provided a fascinating history of a lovely family in a beautiful place.

Norma and I kept in touch each Christmas over the years with two exceptions. One year she had broken her wrist and found writing difficult. She did write me later that year. Last Christmas I did not hear from her. I attempted to contact her through the Church in Barrumbuttock. Bev Harding contacted me last week about Norma’s passing, but could not send me contact information until today (or yesterday, our time, it being just past midnight as I write this..)

Norma was such a interesting person, loving and caring to others with a spirit of adventure that took her all over the world. I hope that there is someone in the extended family with whom I can remain in contact. Armer, Roy and Norma never married; and my father was an only child. I was his only child and have no children, so the two branches of our family from which we sprung will soon be dormant, must as the her branch of the Family Reunion Tree depicted the family of (Fredericke) Pauline as dormant.

I do hope that there is someone in the extended family who can keep me advised of family events and news now that Norma cannot. My street address is 1109 34th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95822 USA, the same as it was at the time of the reunion. The email address has changed and is provided below.

I’ll sign off with condolences to all the family and friends who knew and loved Norma. Having just now learned the date of the graveside service, I was only able to do so nowl I take comfort in knowing that Norma rests in the company of our Great Grandparents, (Johann) August and Caroline Agnes Schulz.

i have fond memories of Norma from my early days in Jindera. Some of the strongest memories are of Red Cross catering events when Norma would arrive with her standard mushroom cakes – such a delicacy.

My mother, Ruth Molkentin, used to help her out in the pre-school at Burrum; Norma and her brothers were highly respected members of the community. I recall her leading the parade for the Jindera Centenary. She cut a fine figure as she rode side saddle through the village.

I remember Norma telling us about when she rode her bike to school. She got a puncture in the tyre, and instead of patching the tyre, her brothers wrapped twine around the wheel which made for a bumpy ride for Norma!
