Our heartfelt condolances from Leiderdorp, The Netherlands. We will remember our tante Lenie as a high spirited woman. Already, as a young girl she was very adventurous, much more than than the family here in the Netherlands realised. Many years after her marriage to John, we heard the story of how they met and how my grandmother had been part of the conspiracy. The official story was that they met at an hospital in Den Helder where she was trained as a nurse and then stayed in touch writing. The reality was, as you may know, they were just pen-pals from the start and only met after she arrived in Australia. My grandfather never knew.
Clearly, tante Lenie knew what she wanted out of life and meant to get it!
    Veel sterkte en hartelijke groeten,
Marja en Jos Maas (son of Chris, an elder brother to tante Lenie)
