FISCHER

A State Funeral for the Honorable Tim Fischer AC will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday 29 August 2019 at the Albury Entertainment Centre, Swift Street Albury.

Mr Fischer was the Leader of the National Party from 1990 to 1999. He was the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade from March 1996 to July 1999. Mr Fischer was the member for Farrer from 1984 to 2001. From 2009 to 2012 he was the Australian Ambassador to the Holy See. Mr Fischer was appointed a Companion to the Order of Australia in 2005 for service to the Australian and New South Wales Parliaments to advancing the national interest through trade liberalization and rail transport development, to supporting humanitarian aid in devolving countries and to fostering openness and acceptance of culture difference in the community.

Family, friends, representatives of organisations and those on the Commonwealth Table of Precedence, including former ministers, should contact the Protocol and International Visits Branch, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in Canberra on (02) 6271 6033 during business hours or email statefuneral@pmc.gov.au regarding attendance.

Members of the public are welcome to attend and will be shown to seating in order of arrival until the venue reaches capacity.

Doors will open at 11:30 am. Attendees are kindly requested to be seated by 12:15 pm. Ushers will be on hand to assist with seating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust in Mr Fischer’s name – awcancertrust.org.au/make-a-donation/

    My sincere condolences to the family of the late Tim Fischer on a wonderful person who truly made a unique contribution to our Australian way of living.     We are very saddened at the passing of Tim Fischer – an outstanding statesman and wonderful family man, whom we have always revered for his integrity, common sense and vision to mention just a few of his many attributes. Our hearts go out to his wife and sons in their great loss.
