It would be great if this could be read out on behalf of Steve’s workmates at the service:

It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to our dear colleague and mate, Steve. His sudden passing has left us all shocked and saddened.

As a member of the Helix Offshore ROV family, he was not just a coworker but a mate. His camaraderie, dry, and at times mischievous sense of humour, and dedication to his work will be deeply missed. In this moment of grief, let us remember and celebrate the impact Steve had on all our lives. All of us that worked with Steve have a story or two of him making us laugh out on the job in different parts of the world. From his early days with us traveling to West Papua, over to Europe in Norway and the Shetland islands, all over South East Asia and of course Australia. Not only on when we were out on the job, but our adventures getting to and from the far flung places we go. He was a stand up guy.

May his memory continue to inspire us as we navigate the challenges ahead. Rest in peace, Steve, you will be dearly missed by us all.”

To Steve’s parents and wider family – I feel compelled to tell you just how much of a monumental shock it is to know that Stevey Harris has gone. It is a tragedy beyond comprehension. I was a colleague of Steve’s at Helix and be assured – this was a guy who was universally liked. One of life’s good guys, the kind that we only occasionally cross paths with during our time. We are all cut up about his passing. God bless you Steve – you will be missed hugely. Rest in Peace buddy.
