Leonie was such a talent and a bright star. My thoughts are with her family at this very sad time. I am so very lucky to have a piece of Leonie’s art which I will treasure always along with many fond memories of quiet chats with her over the years. Rest in peace.

Sending my condolences to Leonie’s family and friends and all of us who loved and respected her courage, intellect and spirituality. It was such a privilege to meet Leonie as a fellow cancer patient. We shared some treatment experiences, including wearing the mask that is required for safety reasons when you receive radiation therapy to the head and neck region. Leonie responded to these challenges with courage, fortitude and creativity. She painted masks used for the treatment and exhibited them at a gallery in Albury Wodonga. It was with gratitude that I accepted the invitation to MC the opening of that exhibition. I felt gratitude because there is a special bond between people who experience cancer. Leonie was a great advocate for cancer patients and her people. Vale.

I went to South Grafton High School in 1991 and 1992 (Years 7 & 8). I think I may have met her and I was sad to hear that she had passed. I was looking her up because I knew a girl by the name of Leonie Frances that was my best friend in 1996 and she mentioned the name “Leonie Frances McIntosh” at one point.
    My condolences to her family.
